According to Frank Seravalli of the Daily Faceoff, the Pittsburgh Penguins have avoided arbitration with forward Zach Aston-Reese, agreeing to a one-year, $1.725 million extension.

Aston-Reese, 26, has played his entire 161 game NHL career with the Penguins. In 45 games this past season he scored a career high nine goals while also adding six helpers. He was also able to chip in with a goal and an assist in six playoff games.

While Aston-Reese is by no means a game breaker, he has turned into a nice depth piece for the Penguins which is quite something considering he was never drafted. He will likely continue to play in the bottom six next season while helping out on the penalty kill.
