Vancouver Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet recently addressed why JT Miller has been getting less ice time than normal.

In the last two games of the Canucks recent road trip, JT Miller got 13:22 and 14:37 of ice time respectively.

That is a fairly big step down from his season average of just under 18 minutes a night.

Furthermore, he was taken off the team's top powerplay unit, not even getting a single second of time on the man advantage during Saturday's win over the Toronto Maple Leafs.

When asked why this is, Canucks head coach Rich Tocchet revealed that Miller is not hurt, and that the team is trying to role four lines more in an effort to tighten things up defensively.

"No, he's not hurt. We're playing more four lines and I think it's helped our team adjust, not giving the other team as many shots, trying to stay in the game. He wants to play better, he knows it."

Miller seemed to play dumb when he was asked about his reduced ice time, saying he didn't know why it was happening despite the fact that Tocchet was clear about it.

"I don't know. Probably could play a little better, I don't know."

Of course, this is only going to contribute more to the trade rumors Miller has been involved in all season.

Of course, this is due to the rift between Miller and Elias Pettersson, which appears to only be getting worse each day Miller remains on the Canucks.

NHL insider Chris Johnston provided one of the most recent updates on this situation, claiming that the Canucks are more likely to move Miller than Pettersson, which seems like the correct move.

"We're talking about significant players here, and as Vancouver continues to work through its options, according to the sources I talked to, there's a sense league-wide that J.T. Miller is the more likely of the two players to be moved."

That being said, the March 7th trade deadline is still well over a month away so we may very well see more rumors and speculation surround the team for the next little while.
