New York Rangers to Report Senators Owner Michael Andlauer to Gary Bettman and the NHL for Defamatory Comments

The New York Rangers were seemingly accused of tampering by the Owner of the Senators, and now they are prepared to report it to the NHL after the unnecessary comments emerged.

This past week in New York has been a whirlwind, with the team trading captain Jacob Trouba as they reportedly look to shake up their underperforming core group, with speculation including a potential trade of the team's longest tenured player in Chris Kreider.

While it appears there's no more massive moves on the way in the near future, the team have been linked to Brady Tkachuk, even with Insider Kevin Weekes recently reporting that they've had no internal or external discussions about the Ottawa Senators captain.

However, that confirmation came days after the initial report, a report that seemingly got back to owner Michael Andlauer, who called out the Rangers organization for tampering in an interview with Insider Pierre LeBrun.

Now, Daily Faceoff's Frank Seravalli has revealed that the Rangers are looking to report these accusations to the NHL, with the Rangers representative having this to say:

What may have been an innocent comment from Andlauer has now seemingly turned into something much, much bigger, and it's now become very clear that the Rangers take these accusations seriously, with the tampering comment coming from nowhere as New York didn't attempt anything illegal in the process.

Ultimately, this appeared to be a comment made from frustration about rumours from an inexperienced owner in Andlauer, and now he may have landed his team in hot water from an unnecessary comment, so we will have to wait and see whether the Rangers do indeed take this seriously and look to the NHL to resolve the issue.
