After firing head coach Jim Montgomery this past week, and replacing him with former Colorado Avalanche head coach and longtime Bruins assistant Joe Sacco, the Boston Bruins are still reeling.
Montgomery has now taken over as head coach of the St. Louis Blues, replacing outgoing bench boss Drew Bannister after only a 22 game tenure.
It is unsurprising that Montgomery was in such high demand considering his 65-win season in 2023, and consistent strong record with Boston, but the team opted to move on anyways.
Now, it is likely time for the team to make more moves beyond the bench, and top NHL insider and analyst Elliotte Friedman has an idea in his mind that could very well work.
The Boston Bruins made two major free agent signings this summer, both players coming off a rental time with the Vancouver Canucks, and both acquired from the Calgary Flames respectfully at different points in the 2023-24 NHL season.
Elliotte Friedman now believes a match made in heaven could be had between the Bruins and Canucks, as a player like Nikita Zadorov is exactly what the Vancouver Canucks need right now.
This, Friedman has proposed the idea of a trade that could feasibly happen, between the Boston Bruins and Vancouver Canucks, for Zadorov, who is signed for the next six years at an annual average salary of $5 million.
We will see if anything comes to fruition here, but when Friedman says something, it can't be taken lightly.
