Through 17 games this season, Robertson has onky one point - a goal. Due to this extremely disappointing tally, many are calling him out as a bust, or of not being NHL-calibre, but Toronto Maple Leafs GM Brad Treliving disagrees. He was even placed in the top-six last night despite his production.
In a new interview with The Athletic, Treliving, rather than bashing Robertson, opted to praise his improvements physically and off the puck, as well as highlight his strong work ethic:
While there have been improvements in his game, the production is still concerning, and a smattering of injuries have made the Leafs' depth a source of concern.
The recent signing of Alexander Nylander, brother of star William Nylander, will add some energy to the bottom-six, but big steps need to come from higher-paid players such as Max Domi.
We will see if the Maple Leafs can get some more production out of Robertson, but as long as the GM is happy, fans should be as well.
