Jacob Trouba set social media alight when he hit Justin Barron in the head, but it appears he's going to avoid a suspension entirely.

The NHL featured all 32 teams on Tuesday Night in their latest Frozen Frenzy, but unfortunately it wasn't all good for the league, as veteran Rangers captain Jacob Trouba took out Montreal's Justin Barron with a hit to the head that had the NHL world talking. The play wasn't the worst hit we've ever seen from Jacob Trouba, but given the use of his elbow directly to the head of Barron, it was a disgusting play from the captain of an Original Six team.

After the play, Mike Matheson immediately went after Trouba, taking a two minute minor for instigating and a 10 minute game misconduct in the process, but it was worth it to stand up for his teammates. Many believed that this play would then result in further discipline for Trouba, with the expectation that he could be suspended, but now it has been confirmed that he won't face any discipline at all.

According to The Score, Trouba has avoided any suspension from the play that saw Matheson being helped from the ice after his head was hit by Trouba's elbow and then collided with the ice. While some may be surprised, others won't be surprised at all as Trouba has rarely been held to the same standard as other NHLers around the league, and after no penalty was given on a play where he clearly used his elbow to target an opponents head, this shouldn't come as a shock.

Players around the league have known for some time how dirty Trouba is, so this shouldn't shock them either, so next time these two teams face off, expect Arber Xhekaj in the lineup to try and get some measure of revenge.
