Dakota Joshua has been a standout for the Vancouver Canucks, but now he'll miss some time after making a tragic announcement.
The Vancouver Canucks saw several career years in 2023/24, but it was Dakota Joshua that perhaps stood up and had the biggest leap of all, playing in 63 games while tallying 18 goals and 32 points on the season. With much expected of him this season, excitement has been high in Vancouver, but unfortunately, he has now made a shocking announcement on social media.
The statement was made official on the Vancouver Canucks social media, where Joshua announced he had been diagnosed with cancer, and as such would miss training camp and potentially the beginning of the season. Thankfully however, it appears optimism is high that the 28-year old will be able to return at some point in 2024/25, as he is now recovering after successful surgery, citing his early diagnosis as a reason for the positivity.
This is a great reminder for everyone out there to know how to spot the signs of things like this, both male and female, as this could have been much worse for Joshua, but as of right now, it appears if all things progress well, he could return for Vancouver at some point in the upcoming season.
