The Ottawa Senators are set to buy defenseman Travis Hamonic out this offseason after a lackluster performance in 2023-24.

Today, Ottawa reporter Bruce Garrioch announced that the Ottawa Senators intend to buy out defenseman Travis Hamonic.

Veteran Travis Hamonic has a full no-move clause and likely will have his $1 million deal bought out once the Stanley Cup final ends Monday. The club would carry a $366,000 cap hit for the next two seasons if that takes place.

This saves roughly $700k for the Senators next year which they can use to sign free agents.

Hamonic played in 48 games with the Senators last year scoring two goals and six points along the way. In addition to this, he averaged a career-low 14:44 of TOI a night.

Hamonic has played in 841 career games with the New York Islanders, Calgary Flames, Vancouver Canucks, and Senators registering 52 goals and 235 career points.

We now await an official announcement from the Senators.
