Flyers fan throws his jersey on the ice in the midst of blowout loss

An ugly stretch of games for the Philadelphia Flyers culminated in a fan showing their disgust last night by throwing a Flyers jersey on the ice in Montreal.

The Philadelphia Flyers, who were at one point surpassing all expectations set for them by analysts and critics before the 2023-24 season began, started sputtering at the worst possible time, and have just one win in their last 10 games. Things really boiled over last night at the Bell Centre in Montreal as the Canadiens made easy work of the Flyers, beating them 9-3. It seems one Flyers fan attending the game in Montreal had had enough, and threw their jersey on the ice before walking out.


Just a few weeks ago, the Philadelphia Flyers seemed poised to silence all their critics and head into the 2024 NHL Stanley Cup playoffs. The team has since dropped out of a wild card spot in the Eastern Conference. While there is still hope Philadelphia can make it, games like this one aren't what they need. Head coach Joh Tortorella addressed the media following the loss. He said he thought his team bounced back well after the first goal, but the second one was a killer.




Philadelphia Flyers goalie Samuel Ersson started the game, but was pulled after allowing 5 goals on 17 shots. Backup Ivan Fedotov didn't fare much better, allowing 4 goals on 13 shots the rest of the game. Juraj Slafkovsky, the Habs first overall pick in 2022, had his first NHL hat trick in the game.
