Dmitri Voronkov, who was drafted by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 4th round of the 2019, might be leaving the NHL to return to the KHL

Dmitri Voronkov, who has played in 69 games throughout his debut season in the NHL, has already shown that he is quite a valuable player, scoring 17 goals, he is also a decent team player, with 15 assists. Despite the fact that he has shown a lot of potential, he may be leaving the NHL to return to the KHL. Hockey News Hub reported that the Ak Bars are interested in re-acquiring Voronkov, and are in the process of negotiating with Voronkov.
Hearing rumor that Ak Bars is negotiating the return of #CBJ Dmitri Voronkov who is under contract until 2025. #KHL
Considering that Voronkov has already played for the Ak Bars from 2018 to 2023, it might be a good move for the Ak Bars to re-acquire Voronkov. Throughout his time playing for the Ak Bars, Voronkov scored 37 goals. It seems he has improved significantly during his short time in the NHL, which might be the reason why his old team is trying to bring him back.
It will be interesting to see what happens, especially considering the numerous rumours earlier in the season that he was homesick and that he was considering a return to Russia.
It would certainly be a blow for the Blue Jackets, who have been playing him on their first line for the last few weeks.
