The New York Rangers came out of their game against the New Jersey Devils Thursday night with a big 6-1 win, but there was also a loss for the team along the way. Goaltender Igor Shesterkin was in a lot of pain after making a save with just under six minutes to go in the third and needed to be helped from the ice. Announcers wondered if the puck may have hit him, but it wasn't that. Shesterkin clearly pulled or twisted something while making the save, possibly aggravating an injury he suffered during the 2020 Stanley Cup playoffs. We'll get to that in a bit. First, check out the video of the injury. As you can see, Shesterkin clearly can't put any weight on his right leg as he's leaving the ice. Alex Georgiev would come in to relieve him for the rest of the game.

The Rangers are calling it a lower-body injury at the moment and no further information has been released yet.

Shesterkin was expected to start for the Rangers in the qualifying round of the 2020 Stanley Cup playoffs but many were surprised that Henrik Lundqvist got the call instead. It turns out, Shesterkin injured his groin before the series started during an exhibition game against the New York Islanders. Hopefully this latest injury isn't a re-aggravation of the previous one, but we'll have to wait a bit to find out.
