The NHL Department of Player Safety was very busy on Thursday, as they announced their third disciplinary action of the day. They announced that Hurricanes defenceman Brett Pesce has been fined a maximum $5,000 for a "dangerous trip" on Red Wings forward Robby Fabbri.

The incident happened just over six minutes into the second period. the pair were both skating through center ice when Pesce kicks out Fabbri's left leg, causing him to trip and fall to the ice. Fabbri appeared to say something to Pesce as he was leaving the ice, but the Hurricanes defenceman ignored what he had to say. Pesce was given a two-minute minor penalty on the play for tripping.

Carolina and Detroit will meet again on Sunday at 5pm ET, and there's no doubt Fabbri will be wanting to have a few words with Pesce.
