In an interview with Mario Langlois of 98.5FM radio in Montreal, former Canadiens goaltending coach Stephane Waite revealed that Habs netminder Carey Price payed him a visit on Wednesday, one day after he was fired.

"He called me after the meeting. We saw each other on Wednesday. He wanted to come and meet me at my home in Brossard. We had a good discussion."

"Of course it was a little emotional, because when you spend eight years with a goaliewhen you spend more time with someone than with your family, that says it all. The relationship has been very good."

On the night of Waite's dismissal, Price phoned him on his way home.

"We had a five-minute discussion and he told me he would like to come see me the next day at my place. It says a lot about the kid. He didn't want it to end up all wrong."

In a press briefing on Wednesday, Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin said that he told Waite following the second period that he was being relieved of his duties, which Waite then confirmed to Langlois on Thursday.

"I learned, there was a minute played in the third period...of course I did not see Carey (that night). What I had to do was go back down to our offices and pick up my things. And then, to leave."

Waite, 55, has been a goaltending coach in the NHL since the 2003-04 season. He spent eight seasons with the Chicago Blackhawks, winning the Stanley Cup in 2010, and 2013, and parts of eight seasons in Montreal.
