St. Louis Blues netminder Jordan Binnington was fired up after being pulled from Saturday night's game against the San Jose Sharks after allowing four goals on just 19 shots in what turned out to be a 7-6 Blues win in San Jose. Binnington took exception to being yanked from the net in the second period, despite the game still being close at 4-3 at the time.

On his way back to the visitors' locker room, Binnington decided to muck it up with three separate Sharks players, including Erik Karlsson and fellow goaltender Devan Dubnyk before leaving the ice.

On Wednesday night, following a 3-2 win over the Ducks in Anaheim, Binnington was made available to the media to take a few questions, at which time Blues beat-writer Jim Thomas asked Binnington what prompted his reaction after being pulled from Saturday's game.

Were the Sharks' players antagonizing him? Did something happen within the game with those specific Sharks players to warrant such a response from Binnington? Well, honestly, the reason is much more simple than that.

"I was pissed off," Binnington said of Saturday's tirade. Thomas asked the follow-up question of whether or not the Sharks were chirping him, to which the Stanley Cup winning netminder responded; "Not really. I wanted them to say something but not really."

The Blues have gotten off to a fairly decent start this season, boasting a 13-8-2 record for 28 of a possible 46 points, currently good for 2nd in the West Division, though the Avs have 25 points and three games in hand.

Binnington certainly looks to have a chip on his shoulder this season, but is playing decent hockey for the Blues, posting a 9-6-2 record in 18 starts, with a .910 SV% and a 2.62 GAA. Obviously things could be better, but they could also be a lot worse. Perhaps Saturday's outburst was the catalyst Binner needed in order to get his groove back, which he looked to have done in Wednesday's win, posting a 2.03 GAA and a .931 SV% against the Ducks.
