Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Travis Dermott is not exactly known for his fighting prowess, but he has also shown that he is not afraid to drop the gloves if the situation calls for it.

Such was the case on Monday evening, when Dermott and Oilers winger Josh Archibald decided to tussle, though the tilt was somewhere between short-lived and non-existent as it ended in a tumble to the ice a few seconds after the two parties locked up.

After the brief scuffle, Dermott was hot as he skated back to the bench, engaging in a heated verbal exchange with Archibald along the way. It's tough to read Dermott's lips to see what he's trying to say, but it certainly doesn't look friendly.

On Tuesday, at the end of Leafs practice, Dermott was spotted with resident heavyweights Zach Bogosian and Scott Sabourin, sans gloves, getting some tips on how to properly dispatch of an opponent in brutal fashion.

You can bet money on the Leafs missing Wayne Simmonds right about now, but the good news is that they aren't exactly pushovers, with a number of players having dropped the mitts on more than one occasion - though, in this specific case, it looks as though Dermott is happy taking matters into his own hands.

Given the way the last game ended, with Alex Chiasson's cross-check to the head of Jimmy Vesey, Darnell Nurse and Bogosian locking horns in front of Michael Hutchinson late in the third and Dermott's quick tussle with Archibald, I'd put my money on Wednesday's grudge match being an eventful one.
