The NHL's department of Player Safety have scheduled a hearing to take place on Tuesday for Edmonton Oilers forward Alex Chiasson for cross-checking Toronto Maple Leafs forward Jimmy Vesey at the conclusion of Monday night's game between the two North Division clubs.

The incident occurred after the horn went to signal the end of the contest following a brief verbal exchange between Vesey and Chiasson as Vesey was heading back into the Toronto zone to congratulate his netminder Michael Hutchinson on his shutout and the win.

The tensions were obviously high, given the fact that the Oilers were shut out in back-to-back games by the Leafs, despite the Buds playing without Auston Matthews and starting their #2 and #3 goalies to kick off the three-game series.

The Leafs were reportedly very upset with the incident, suggesting that the referees call the war room to take a look at the replay so that they could respond accordingly. Chiasson was issued a 5-minute major and a 10-minute game misconduct on the play.
