Konstantin Koltsov's passing was heartbreaking for the hockey community, and now his long-time girlfriend has released a statement on the matter.
The shocking passing of Konstantin Koltsov took the hockey world by storm, as they came together to mourn the former 18th overall pick by the Pittsburgh Penguins. His death was first ruled as a result of a blood clot but later determined to be a
suicide, making the story that much more heartbreaking.
Not long after his passing
was announced, Konstantin Koltsov's long-time girlfriend Aryna Sabalenka, a women's tennis star, released the following statement.
«Konstantin's death is an unthinkable tragedy, and while we were no longer together, my heart is broken,» Sabalenka wrote in an Instagram story . «Please respect my privacy and his family's privacy during this difficult time.»
The statement revealed that Aryna Sabalenka and Konstantin Koltsov were no longer together, something that wasn't entirely public information. Konstantin Koltsov played in 144 NHL games, recording 12 goals with 26 assists.
He played in the KHL after, scoring 43 goals with 73 assists in 375 games.
