The Washington Capitals have clawed their way back into the Wild Card race in the Eastern Conference, but unsurprisingly, there always has to be detractors when teams, and individual players are doing big things.
Mark Spector calls out praise for Alex Ovechkin
During their latest win over the Calgary Flames, Ovechkin tallied his 20th and 21st goal of the season, drawing him within 53 goals of Wayne Gretzky's NHL goal scoring record.
Just days after celebrating Connor Brown's first goal of the year, Edmonton Oilers reporter Mark Spector took to social media to call out the iconic Capitals star.
Are we really celebrating Ovechkin scoring his 20th goal of the season in mid-March?
-
Despite a slow start to the season, Ovechkin has turned things around well as of late, tallying his 843rd career goal, and unsurprisingly, fans clapped back at Spector.
-
While there's certainly ways to call out Spector without dragging down greats like Wayne Gretzky, a user on X pointed out just how impressive Ovechkin's late career goal scoring streak still is, especially when compared to the Great One late in his NHL run.
