In Don Sweeney's media availability for Boston, after the NHL trade deadline passed, he addressed the trades he made for the team and broke some shocking news to reporters.
Sweeney informed the media that one of his top six defensemen, and top penalty killers, Derek Forbort would miss the remainder of the season with injuries that he has been playing through.
Forbort has played in 35 of the Bruins' 65 games this season, with four assists, while averaging 17:47 minutes a game. He also sees 3:00 a game shorthanded, which is a top total among the team.
Over Forbort's career he has played a full season in his three seasons with Los Angeles from 2016-2019, and since then he has played over 60 games once.
Forbort likely will not be back until the 2024-25 season and that will be a big blow for the Bruins' playoff roster.
