On Thursday, the Kraken and the Oilers had a fantastic, physical meeting, but unfortunately, one of the Seattle Kraken's forwards took it a bit too far.
Yanni Gourde suspended for two-games
Early on Friday morning, it was revealed that Yanni Gourde would be forced to face the NHL's DoPS for charging Mattias Ekholm, and now, his punishment has been revealed.
Seattle's Yanni Gourde has been suspended for two games for charging Edmonton's Mattias Ekholm.
Given that the NHL is trying to crack down on plays like this, the suspension comes as no surprise, but for some, this will be another example of the NHL's inconsistencies when it comes to discipline.
Ultimately though, it may be a tough break for Seattle, who find themselves within two games of a Wild Card spot in the West, and with every point being so valuable, this could be a crushing suspension.
