BREAKING: Capitals Extend Player for Five Years

Despite being in the playoff race, the Washington Capitals offensive performance in 2023-24 has been dreadful, but it appears as though they've found a key piece of their future.

Aliaksei Protas extended for a further five years



At 23-years of age, Protas has become a permanent fixture of the Washington Capitals lineup, and is on pace for a career year in 2023-24.

In 42 games, the young center has tallied 3 goals and 18 points, already surpassing his previous high of 15, and now he has been handsomely rewarded.

The Washington Capitals have re-signed forward Aliaksei Protas to a five-year contract extension. Protas' contract will carry an average annual value of $3.375 million.


The five-year deal comes with an AAV of $3.375 million, and at 23-years old, he's now locked in as a potentially key piece of the Capitals rotation for years to come.
