It appears that the COVID-19 outbreak within the Carolina Hurricanes organization is going to cause more games to be postponed this week.

According to Luke DeCock of the News & Observer in Raleigh, North Carolina, the NHL is going to announce that the Hurricanes won't be playing Thursday and Saturday night against the Florida Panthers out of an abundance of caution.

Tuesday ,the National Hockey League announced the first in-season postponement of the 2020-21 season, with the game between the Hurricanes and Nashville Predators set to be rescheduled for a later date.

It was reported later in the day that Jordan Staal, Jordan Martinook, Warren Foegele, Jaccob Slavin, and Teuvo Teravainen from Carolina had been placed in COVID protocol.

The Hurricanes next game on the schedule is Tuesday January 26th against the Tampa Bay Lightning, but if things continue to spiral downwards, there's a good chance that game may have to be rescheduled too.

With the NHL not playing in a bubble for the 2020-21 season, outbreaks like this may happen. With the season only a week old, and already two teams facing outbreaks, let's all hope the season continues with players, coaches, and all staff finding a way to stay safe.
