The Pierre-Luc Dubois saga continues ahead of the Blue Jackets season opener Thursday in Nashville. According to former player and analyst Nick Kypreos, the Montreal Canadiens are Dubois' first destination choice, and the Blue Jackets have focused on a package of Nick Suzuki, plus other assets.

"Pierre-Luc Dubois' first destination choice is @CanadiensMTL," said Kypreos.

"The @BlueJacketsNHL ask is now focused around Nick Suzuki / plus. Romanov has been deemed untouchable. Would you do it if your Marc Bergevin?," he added.

The likelihood of this happening seems slim. Bergevin has indeed deemed Romanov untouchable, but he also did the same for Suzuki, who appears to be on his way to becoming the team's number one centre.

Dubois, 22, was drafted by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the first round, third overall in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. In 234 regular season games, he's tallied 158 points (65 G, 93 A), 162 penalty minutes, and is a +22. In 26 career playoff games, he's put up 19 points (8 G, 11 A), 24 penalty minutes, and is a -2. His trade request from the Blue Jackets has been well-documented, with even head coach John Tortorella confirming it in interviews.
