The Florida Panthers are uncertain if starting goalie Sergei Bobrovsky will play in their season opener against the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday.

Bobrovsky skated for the first time in training camp Wednesday because he had been unfit for practice since camp began. He will skate again on Thursday, but the next team practice is not scheduled until Friday, along with another practice Saturday.

"It's definitely great to be back with the guys to start working, see the puck and be around my teammates," Bobrovsky said. "It's great to be back and I felt good, so I just need a few more practices and I'm ready to go."

Florida was supposed to kick-off their season against the Dallas Stars on Thursday and Friday, but they were postponed due to the Stars dealing with a bit of a COVID-19 outbreak in their organization.

"Good to see him back," Quenneville said of Bobrovsky. "He felt fine out there. He did a lot of drills, almost took every shot at his end. So he had a good work day. We'll see how he comes in tomorrow and presents, and we'll talk with our goalie group. I think we've got an opportunity here. He'll dictate to us over the next few days whether Sunday is an option or not."

Bobrovsky is looking to have a rebound season after last season was arguably the worst of his career. He went 23-19-6 with a 3.23 GAA and .900 SV% in 50 games last season.

Chris Driedger or Sam Montembeault would likely draw the start if Bobrovsky is forced out of playing. Driedger was fantastic in his small sample size last season, going 7-2-1 with a 2.05 GAA and .938 SV% in 12 games last season. Montembeault meanwhile, went 5-5-1 with a 3.34 GAA and .890 SV% in 14 games.
