The Western Hockey League's board of governors announced on Friday that they are committed to having a 2020-21 season, that will consist of a 24-game schedule.
In a statement, WHL commissioner Ron Robison said: "The Western Hockey League is committed to providing a season for WHL players. This commitment ensures WHL players will receive the opportunity to compete at the highest level in the system and continue to pursue their hockey goals in the world's finest development league for junior hockey players."
A start date for the 2020-21 WHL season has not been released yet because the league is going over the health and safety protocols with Provincial and State Health Authorities.
The regular season and playoffs would have to conclude before mid-June, as the CHL tentatively announced back in the Fall that the 2021 Mastercard Memorial Cup will be held in June either in Oshawa or Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.
The Western Hockey League is committed to a 24-game Regular Season for 2020-21.
