Per The Athletic's Adam Vingan, the Nashville Predators have signed forward Luke Kunin to a two-year contract extension. According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the deal has a $2.3 million AAV.
The talented 23 years old forward, along with a 2020 fourth round pick, were acquired by the Predators in a trade in early October that saw veteran Nick Bonino and both a second and fourth round pick in 2020 head the other way. Last season was Kunin's first as a full time NHLer, and he certainly proved he belonged with 15 goals and 31 points in 63 games. His goal total was good enough for fourth place on the Wild roster.
This could be a great pickup for the Preds who often struggle to produce offence. The even better news is that Kunin is still likely just scratching the surface on how good he can and will be. The American born forward was taken with the 15th overall selection at the 2016 NHL Entry Draft and put up big numbers in every league he has played in throughout his career. This has a chance to be looked back on as a great trade by the Predators organization.
