With the Buffalo Sabres looking to get back into the NHL's playoff hunt this season, training camp has started out with a set back. During a scrimmage Monday, forward Zemgus Girgensons injured his leg after colliding teammate Steven Fogarty. Check it out:

You can see from the video how one of Girgensons' legs really stretches out on the play. He would be helped off the ice and did not return.

"Zemgus Girgensons underwent successful surgery today to repair a hamstring injury suffered during our scrimmage on Jan. 4," said the Sabres. "The expected recovery time for this injury is approximately six months."

Girgensons, now 27, is a former first-round pick of the Sabres, 14th overall in 2012. He's become a main-stay in Buffalo and his absence will certainly be missed

Girgensons has played a total of 489 regular season NHL games, registering 61 goals and 138 points.
