The Florida Panthers will be one of a few teams to host fans to start the 2020-21 NHL season. Today, the Panthers announced details for fans attending games this season, which include health guidelines they must follow at all times while in the arena.
Fans will be allowed in at a reduced capacity (25%, 5,000 fans) to start the season, and the number of fans allowed in will be evaluated on a regular basis based on public health guidelines.
Fans will be required to wear face masks at all times (except when eating or drinking).
Prior to entering the arena, fans will be asked health screening questions to ensure they are well, and eligible to enter the arena.
Ticketing will all be done through the NHL app. Fans will be able to buy, load, and scan tickets to limit contact with the Panthers box office staff.
Concession purchases will be cashless, and mobile ordering will be an option for fans.
Signage will be presented around the arena to remind fans of the health protocols in place. Additionally, plexiglass screens have been put up throughout the arena for added safety.
The restrooms have been updated to include touchless sinks, soap dispensers, paper towel dispensers, etc.
"I'm incredibly proud of our exceptional staff's tireless work and dedication to ensuring the safest possible environment for Panthers fans and the South Florida community, who are an integral part of our team," said Panthers President & CEO Matt Caldwell. "Through our rigorous collective efforts, we have achieved the highest of health and safety standards for BB&T Center, and couldn't be more excited or prepared to safely welcome back our fans at a limited, socially-distant capacity, and begin this next chapter of Panthers hockey with health and safety as our guiding priority."
The Panthers open their 2020-21 season at home on Thursday, January 14th against the Dallas Stars.
