Jack Eichel Gives Shocking Insight Into Phil Kessel's Diet

Recently Jack Eichel was interviewed on the Empty Netters Podcast. The interview included Jack Eichel telling a classic Phil Kessel story.

Eichel Dishes Out A New Kessel Story

During the interview, Eichel talked about how Kessel added to the team chemistry. He brought up a story of an interaction between Jonathan Marchessault and Phil Kessel.

Before a game Marchessault and Kessel were facing off in a flinching contest to see who could get the other to back down first.


Disaster struck when both players lunged forward to make the other flinch. This caused Marchessault to need stitches and Kessel to have a goose egg on his forehead. Kessel was not too pleased with Marchessault after the incident.


Both players would go on to play in that night's game. Kessel after the game used an unusual method to cure the pain according to Eichel.

Eichel Gives Shocking Insight On Kessel's Diet

After their game, the Golden Knights had a 2-hour train ride from Montreal to Ottawa. Kessel complained of pain from the goose egg and a groin injury. He claimed that Coca-Cola was the only cure for the pain. He then proceeded to drink 4-5 cokes in that 2-hour train ride.


Kessel's legend only seems to grow every time there is a story written or told about him. We all await his return to the NHL so that more stories and memories can be created and shared with the world.
