There can always be redemption in the NHL, as long as you're a good enough player.
Insider Says Several Team Looking at Adding Perry
According to one Insider, whatever happened with Corey Perry
in Chicago to get him dropped from his contract won't be a deterrent for other teams looking to add to their rosters.
"I think there's actually been a couple of teams in the last 24-48 hours that may be interested in adding a player like Corey Perry
, so I think there's a lot left to be written here." - Frank Seravalli
Perry May be Back in the NHL Sooner than You Think
At 38, Perry isn't the player he once was, but there's no denying what he could add to a roster looking to make a playoff run. He is a Stanley Cup Champion, four-time NHL All-Star, and has won the Rocket Richard and Hart Memorial trophies. It's not necessarily surprising that team would be at least kicking the tires on a potential deal.
While all of the details have yet to come out, it seems an alcohol-fueled incident at a team event involving a Blackhawks staff member led to Perry's demise in Chicago. Unless there are criminal charges involved, and there's no indication of that, Perry is a free agent and NHL teams are free to sign him.
