Some surprising teams have entered the Patrick Kane sweepstakes
According to Elliotte Friedman, the Detroit Red Wings and Florida Panthers have emerged as two of the most likely destinations for free agent Patrick Kane.
Some of the winds are blowing towards Detroit.
In addition to the Panthers and Red Wings, the Boston Bruins and Toronto Maple Leafs have been rumoured to be trying to obtain the services of Kane. That creates a four-way Atlantic Division arms race for the highly-touted free agent.
Kane is unlikely to end up in Toronto
Friedman doesn't think it's likely that Kane will end up in Toronto but they've been looking into him.
All I will say is this, there are a couple of teams out there who suspect that Toronto looked into it even though it doesn't make sense because it's kind of in Treliving's DNA to look into things and there's a couple of teams out there who suspect that Boston might be another team that's poked around on this.
