During the matchup between the Seattle Kraken and New York Rangers, the lights on the Rangers side of the ice was a lot darker than the other, something that could perhaps give either team a major advantage.
In order to circumvent this issue, the referees made a decision, that instead of changing after every period, the teams would swap sides every 10 minutes.
This lighting issue seemed to benefit some players more than others, as Artemi Panarin joked that he loved it due to the issues it presented the goaltenders, as he netted two on the night.
Either way, it ended up being a thrilling matchup with plenty of feeling and some amazing hockey, but this is definitely a situation the NHL will hope to avoid in the future.
