The Chicago Blackhawks have released a statement regarding Samuel Savoie and the injury he sustained.

Savoie Underwent Femur Surgery

The Chicago Blackhawks have just announced that Samuel Savoie underwent successful surgery after being stretchered off the ice.
Team physician Dr. Michael Terry released the following medical update:

Samuel Savoie underwent successful surgery on his right femur on Sunday in Minnesota, and we expect him to make a full recovery.
The femur is the largest and strongest bone in the human body so for Savoie breaking his is a true testament to how hard he crashed into the boards.
It is encouraging to hear that Savoie is expected to make a full recovery but we do not know how long it will take Savoie to get back to playing. However, femur breaks typically take 4-6 months to recover with 2 months there being zero weight put on the injury.
If Savoie is able to get back to playing this year, that is a major win for him and the Blackhawks organization.
