Corey Perry Leaks A Major Announcement For The Chicago Blackhawks

The Chicago Blackhawks added several veterans this offseason to surround Connor Bedard. One of those veterans was Corey Perry since his signing one major decision by him might have leaked a big announcement.

When arriving in Chicago with the Blackhawks Corey Perry had to make a big decision. This is a decision that every player needs to make when they arrive in a new home. He had to pick a jersey number.

Perry's preferred jersey number is usually 10. When he got to the Blackhawks he reportedly asked to wear 10 but was told he couldn't.

This announcement from Perry has led to a ton of speculation about why 10 wasn't available. While an announcement hasn't been made a common theory is now known.

Many people believe that Perry's insight has confirmed a rumor surrounding the number. The number 10 has belonged to some very good players in Blackhawks history. Both Tony Amonte and Patrick Sharp have worn the number in the past.

Amonte spent 9 years in Chicago playing 627 games and accumulating 541 points. He did not have much team success during his time with the Blackhawks. On the other hand, Patrick Sharp played 11 seasons with the Blackhawks playing in 749 games and scoring 532 points. He did not have as much individual success but did win 3 Stanley Cups for the organization.

Between the two players, they have more than enough on their resume to deserve a jersey retirement. With the Blackhawks holding the number this is the most likely outcome. The Blackhawks will likely announce a ceremony in the future to retire the number 10 and immortalize two of the franchise's most notable players.
