Connor Bedard has come into the NHL with hype only exceeded by the likes of
Connor McDavid and
Sidney Crosby in the last few decades, and now, his debut is almost upon us.
A superstar in the making
After putting up an untouchable 243 points over his past two years with the Regina Pats in the WHL, Bedard was the obvious choice at No. 1 overall, with the Blackhawks getting lucky enough to win that pick.
Now, he's not expected to make this team a playoff contender already, but with his skills, talent and overall drive to succeed, he's expected to be a massive success, and that all starts with what many believe will be a Calder winning season.
Hype train not full yet?
However, it appears not everyone is blindly buying into the hype, as NHL Insider Andy Strickland has given us this prediction for Bedard's 2023-24 season.
"
Connor Bedard will not win the Calder Trophy." - Andy Strickland
Along with that, Strickland predicted under 30 goals for the standout 18-year old, and while winning the Calder won't be easy, it's tough to see him not going off in his rookie campaign, but now, only time will tell.
