Phil Kessel has yet to receive a contract for the next season but he is skating with a contending team to stay in shape.
Kessel Spotted Skating With Vegas
In the middle of September, Phil Kessel has yet to receive an NHL contract but likely will receive a guaranteed contract in the coming weeks. With the season so close, Kessel is getting back into shape and was spotted at a Vegas Golden Knights captain's practice despite not being under contract.
"Phil Kessel was on the ice getting work in and having fun with his former teammates. Speculation has started to emerge as the Minnesota Wild as a possible landing spot for the NHL's Ironman. Kessel was in great spirits and it was nice to see the band back together possibly for one last time." - Chris Gawlik of Vegas Hockey Now
While Kessel remains unsigned, it appears he will continue to practice with the Golden Knights until he gets his next contract. There is a solid chance he remains in Vegas as he made it clear he is willing to lose his Ironman streak next season.
Currently, it feels wide open as to where Kessel will go. He is skating the Golden Knights so that is always an option for him. It was mentioned that the Wild is also a viable option for Kessel and becoming increasingly likely.
Only time will tell where Kessel goes but it is clear that it will be coming in the next few weeks before training camps begin.
