A few days ago, it was announced that the SKA St. Petersburg decided to bench Matvei Michkov for their season opener in the KHL.
FLyers fans were immediately concerned for his development. Now, they have another reason to worry, as he's benched yet again.

Michkov Benched for Second Consecutive Game

Matvei Michkov is not SKA head coach Roman Rotenberg's lineup again today vs. Lada Togliotti. Remains a healthy scratch.

Second line: Sapego, Kamalov - Leipsic, Glotov, Alistrov
Third line: Pedan, M. Fedotov - I. Fedotov, Vorobyov, I. Demidov
Fourth line: Pashnin - Grebenshchikov, Kadeikin, Dedunov, Zinchenko (13th forward). #hcSKA
It's interesting to note that Ivan Demidov, eligible for the 2024 NHL draft, has been moved up to the third line, showing that the team isn't afraid to give young players a chance.
Michkov must be doing something wrong...
