The New York Rangers took major strides in the 2021-22 season, and after a deep playoff run, it's clear that the goal in The Big Apple is what it should be: Stanley Cup or bust.

Roster construction

With their talented roster, things have been looking up for quite some time with the Rangers, but going into the 2023-24 season, things aren't looking quite the same.

Strangely, the Rangers have no forwards in the age range of 24-29 years old, as they rely on a veteran group led by Mika Zibanejad, Chris Kreider and Artemi Panarin, while also having several young players that may not be ready to contribute on a high enough level.

Trades incoming?

According to a Rangers analyst, what they need to do is make some moves before the season begins, and in their latest PuckProse article, three names have been targeted as trade candidates: Alexis Lafreniere, Filip Chytil and Kaapo Kakko.

You'll notice that these are the three forwards in that younger age bracket, and with a Cup in mind, trading them might be a solid idea, but if it doesn't go well, this would be a Rangers team without young players and a tough future ahead.
