NHL Veteran Asks for Help in His Battle With Lung Cancer
A cry for help has been sent to all hockey fans.
Former NHLer Needs Help
Brad Maxwell, who played in the NHL from 1977 to 1987, is currently battling aggressive lung cancer.
He is seeking help to pay for his treatment. A GoFundMe page has been started to raise funds.

Here is the announcement explaining the situation:
"It is with great sadness that we share that Brad Maxwell is currently battling aggressive lung cancer that has unfortunately spread. As a former Minnesota North Star player and current President of the MN NHL Alumni, he has brought joy and excitement to the ice for many fans. It is difficult to share that chemo and radiation are no longer working, but we are hopeful that a brand-new treatment he is currently undergoing will be successful in his fight against cancer.
It is important to note that this treatment is not fully covered by insurance, which can make it difficult to cover the large out-of-pocket expenses. We hope that the community can come together to support Brad during this difficult time and help alleviate some of the financial burden that comes with cancer treatments. Brad has given so much to the hockey community, and it is our turn to give back and show our support.
We wish Brad the best of luck in his fight against cancer and hope that he can overcome this obstacle with the love and support of his family and the hockey community."

His Career
Maxwell was drafted as the 7th overall pick in 1977 by the Minnesota North Stars, where he played most of his career. Later, he joined the Quebec Nordiques, Toronto Maple Leafs, Vancouver Canucks, and the New York Rangers.
In 612 games, the defenseman scored 368 points, including 98 goals.
