The Pittsburgh Penguins have been one of, if not the best team in the modern NHL, winning three Stanley Cups under their current core, and it appears they aren't quite done yet.
A blockbuster deal
Last weekend, the Penguins made the blockbuster move to acquire the reigning Norris Trophy winner
Erik Karlsson from the San Jose Sharks, adding significant offensive firepower to their blue line.
With a core of
Sidney Crosby,
Evgeni Malkin and Kris Letang, going all in for another Stanley Cup just made perfect sense, and now, one of those key members of the core have reacted to the deal.
Another Cup run incoming?
Unsurprisingly, Letang is absolutely thrilled with the move, as he already has incredible praise for their new group, especially on the powerplay.
Trust me, every coach in the league wants an
Erik Karlsson. Every coach in the NHL wants Crosby and Malkin on the powerplay. Now imagine if you have all of them.
While all four of these guys are ageing, they still put up solid numbers last season, and if all of them can be healthy throughout the 2023-24 season, this should be a very fun team to watch.
