The Washington Capitals are looking to add a new piece to bolster their offense.
Caps Eyeing Big Trade
Recent reports have come out that the Washington Capitals are eyeing another top-six forward to improve their offense.
While it is unknown what the Capitals would be giving up, we can assume it would likely be a package surrounding future assets such as picks and prospects.
The Current Top Forwards
The Capitals have a plethora of top forwards at their disposal but the issue is that many are generally inconsistent or injured.
Their number one forward is obviously Alex Ovechkin who will be looking to break Gretzky's goal record in the coming years. They also have
Nicklas Backstrom who has missed substantial time with injury of late but will look to bounce back to form. TJ Oshie is also a part of the mix and at 36, he is entering the waning years of his career.
In addition to these three, they also have
Evgeny Kuznetsov who has reportedly requested a trade,
Tom Wilson who has just signed a long-term extension but only played 33 games last year,
Anthony Mantha who only scored 27 points last year, and
Dylan Strome.
They could certainly use a top forward to help rejuvenate the offense. Some that are reportedly on the market include
Elias Lindholm and
Mark Scheifele who would both help the Capitals in their playoff pursuit.
More news to come.
