Lafreniere Speaks on Being a Ranger

Alexis Lafreniere is in the middle of his first contract negotiation of his career and with all top players that are a restricted free agent trade rumors always emerge.

However the younger Quebecer might be forced to take less to continue playing for the New York Rangers as currently they only have $3 million in cap space.

Despite this Lafreniere commented on his situation while being at the Bergeron-Gagne Classic in Quebec City stating that a deal is imminent.

PUBLICITÉS

Yes, it's coming. My agent and the Rangers are in discussions and I hope it will be settled in the next few weeks. I love playing there, and it would be super cool to continue.

That's what the National League is all about. You have to be patient sometimes, it takes a little longer. I'm really looking forward to re-signing." - Alexis Lafrenière

An offer sheet on the former first overall pick would spice up the off season and a new home for Lafreniere may be the change the young player needs.

Lafreniere's Slow Start

When Lafreniere was in the QMJHL playing for the Rimouski Oceanic's he was getting compared to Sidney Crosby and the hype followed him into his first couple seasons but his success in junior has not translated to the NHL yet.

In his first 3 seasons with the New York Rangers Lafreniere only has 91 points in 216 games, with slow production from the highly touted prospect a new team might help reveal his talents.
