Connor Bedard continues to break records and has already done so with his NHL contract.
Bedard Breaks Record With Contract
Today the Chicago Blackhawks signed Connor Bedard to his entry-level contract.
-
While there is not much leverage a player has on their entry-level contract, they are able to negotiate bonuses past their salary and signing bonus.
Bedard's contract is worth $950,000 per year against the salary cap at the bare minimum but could be worth more considering his performance bonuses.
-
This means that Bedard could receive an additional $1 million from A-level bonuses which are much more attainable.
However, if Bedard were to finish top 10 in league scoring, he would receive an additional $2.5 million.
No prospect has ever signed a fully maxed out entry-level contract with the closest being Juraj Slafkovsky which had a ceiling of being worth $4.45 million but Bedard's could be worth $4.5 million.
Regardless, none of it is guaranteed unless he performs well and if his past triumphs show anything, he will perform.
Will Connor Bedard finish top 10 in league scoring next year?
