A veteran goaltender has called it a career after 14 seasons.

Greiss Calls It Quits

It was just announced that Thomas Greiss has retired after 14 seasons in the NHL.

Greiss has logged 368 career games mainly as a backup for the San Jose Sharks, Pheonix Coyotes, Pittsburgh Penguins, New York Islanders, Detroit Red Wings, and the St. Louis Blues.

His career year came in 2018-19 where he posted a .927 sv% and 2.28 GAA with the Islanders.

Greiss is an inspiration to a generation of German hockey players that includes Leon Draisaitl and Tim Stutzle as their hockey programs continue to develop into a powerhouse.
