While never a superstar in the NHL, Helm was the ultimate journeyman player, and a great locker room leader. In 2010, then Red Wings coach Mike Babcock called him "probably our best player from start to finish", despite Helm playing on the fourth line for most of the year.
Outside of his two Stanley Cups, Helm, a native of Manitoba, played for Team Canada at the 2007 World Juniors, mostly on the second and third lines. He helped the team win gold that year. Congrats to Helm on an excellent career!
