After six years as the Los Angeles Kings Play-by-Play broadcaster Alex Faust will not have his contract renewed for next season.

Faust Fired

The news comes as the Kings are making a major shake up to their broadcast format, which will now include Nick Nickson in Faust's old role in the play-by-play booth.

Kings fans did not hesitate to express their frustration with the decision on social media.

Nickson will be handling both television and radio calls for the Kings, in what is widely being considered to be a cost cutting maneuver. This is becoming a theme in American sports broadcasting, with more and more teams moving to simulcast their TV coverage of a game on radio in order to save money on personalities.

The Kings broadcast rights last year were held by Bally Sports Network, who have been making headlines by filing for bankruptcy this past March.

The Kings do not currently have a local TV rights deal for the 2023-2024 season
