It appears John Gibson's time in Anaheim has come to an end in a search for a new beginning elsewhere.

Star Goalie Submits Trade Request

To say this past season was rough for John Gibson is an understatement. Gibson had a 3.99 GAA and a .899 sv% which was by far the worst statistical year of his career. This is not entirely his fault though. The Ducks' defense was atrocious and hung Gibson out to dry averaging over 37 shots against per game.

Due to this, Gibson has let management know he wants out.

Gibson's best season was in 2015-16 where he won the Jennings trophy and 2.07 GAA. Now, when he should be in his prime, the team in front of him is atrocious and he has to carry the team on his back for any semblance of a win.

For comparison, in 2021-22 the Ducks finished 10th worst. In that season Gibson played three more games than he did this year and faced nearly 200 fewer shots. Brutal for Gibson given how weak the team in front of him is. Put him on any team with a good defense and he is putting up Vezina-worthy numbers.
