The New York Rangers all but put pen to paper with Peter Laviolette this week. A new candidate may make things more complicated, however.
Hynes Now Available
Yesterday, the Nashville Predators let go long-time head coach John Hynes in favour of Andrew Brunette.
Hynes had been with the Preds for four years, and had seen some decent success with their less-than-incredible roster.
He also happens to be very close friends, and a former teammate of Rangers GM Jack Drury. That is where things get interesting.
While every insider in the game had Laviolette as essentially a lock for the job, Hynes may now be in the running.
«Laviolette I believe was in NY on Tuesday and like I said if it was going to be him I thought we were going to find out pretty quick. I am very curious to see if now they interview Hynes, Drury and Hynes have a history together in college»
