Marvin "Marvelous Marv" Edwards passed away this past week bringing sadness to the hockey community. Edwards was a pioneer in the sport of hockey and will be missed.
Edwards Passes Away at 87
Marv Edwards had a lengthy hockey career that mainly took place in the minors but Edwards was able to retire as an NHLer. Breaking into the NHL at the age of 34, Edwards was able to play 61 career NHL games.
Despite his small frame of 5'8" (173 cm), he was able to carve out a role for himself wherever he went. Playing most of his career in the EHL, Edwards was able to get a shot in the NHL with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
He then went on to play with the Toronto Maple Leafs and California Golden Seals where he retired as a Golden Seal.
Edwards' tenacity to play in the NHL can only be admired and we wish his family the best during this tough time. May he rest in peace.
