To Toronto:

Brandon Hagel
Marc-Andre Fleury

To Chicago:

Petr Mrazek
Matthew Knies
Two first-round picks

Why was it Cancelled?

The General Managers had approve the trade, but in the end, it didn't happen. The official reason is that Toronto would've had issues with their salary cap. But rumors are that Brendan Shanahan intervened.

"Here's a trade that didn't happen. Chicago and Toronto discussed Hagel and Fleury, with the Leafs, for Mrazek, Matthew Knies, and first-round picks. It never reached a stage where Fleury was officially asked to waive. Toronto declined based on the future contracts involved."

- Darren Dreger

The Maple Leafs' 2022 playoff run could have been totally different if that trade happened. With Fleury and Hagel, do you think the Leafs would've beaten the Lightning?
